      Who is a "Maine Acadian"? As used in Acadian Culture in Maine, "Maine Acadian" means an American of French descent connected by heritage to the Upper St. John Valley, including but not limited to genealogical descendants of early Acadian settlers of the Valley. Our fishing communities and our state cannot afford for this to happen. We are working to ensure there are proper state regulations in place to prevent a rapid, unplanned expansion of aquaculture in Maine that creates conflict in an environment where both lobstering and aquaculture should co-exist.
